Thanks for the link above. And as it is i had similar issues in the Windows 7 beta except that the ambient light sensor worked dorring the beta, which is odd. At least Microsoft fixed those driver compatibility issues for windows 7. Now to deal with it all over again. Its just too bad that i have to use the OEM CD or download the drivers from the HP web site to use the tc4400 with windows 7.

Can you give me the link to the HP forum, so that i can discus this issue there. The odd thing is that i was googling the ambient light sensor issue and i think i was one of the few users getting that issue. Most users were only getting issues with the graphics card when using windows 7.

Of course then for using the tc4400 with Windows 7 or windows 8, i'm mostly using the drivers from the 2710p/2730p/2740p/2760p tablet PCs and they work very well with the tc4400. However they are not fixing the two issues that i am having. Hopefully the HP forums will have the fix. So the link for the is much needed. At least the microsoft link conformed that 90% of my computers device drivers work with Windows 8 and i already tested those on my own. However the ones that i need to use are not listed on the web site. And sadly HP does not support the tc440 with windows 7.

Even with the Windows 7 based drivers won't get the the ambient light sensorworking with Windows 8. (or windows 7) at least the vista drivers work to get the SD card reader in Windows 7, just not Windows 8.

Its nice that the devices share software and drivers. Its just to bad none of none of the newer model tablets have the same SD card reader. I looked through the entire HP web site to get the most recent drivers for my tabletand there are only two devices that won't work with Windows 8 (the SD card reader and the ambient light sensor) and one that won't work with Windows 7.

With a device that is 6 years old from an OEM that stopped providing drivers for it as of the release of Vista, you're going to be on your own trying to get everything to work with Windows 8.
