I have never been a huge fan of poetry, but sometimes you can listen to words without really understanding, and they sound good. This band should be at the top of the singles and album charts, although it could never be due to the language used. Songs are about Scottish life and are thoroughly uplifting. It seems that the raw songs have been processed by a team of American sound engineers (correct me if I'm wrong) which mixes the raw pathos of the draft music with a pop glaze, and the resultant mix occasionally tastes too rich (track 3) but overall works incredibly well. This is an album for the underground music lover who wants something he can play his friends, because this is accessible and powerful. It holds up fantastically to repeat listening and leaves you sated and happy that, yes, good music is still being made.
