Did you confirm that your version updated to 02.? To check what version of the game that you have, start Rise of Nations and select 'Tools & Extras' from the main menu. Then select 'About Rise of Nations' and you should see the version listed at the top of the window. This is kind of odd since the patch deals mainly with simple XML updates.
